This project holds a special place in our hearts—it was the one that sparked the beginning of Cameron Custom. What started as a shared vision between homeowners and our team evolved into a breathtaking transformation of a classic 1970s Camelot Homes property located in the sought-after neighborhood of McCormick Ranch in Scottsdale, Arizona.
When our clients first purchased the property, they were immediately captivated by its prime location and original ranch-style architecture. Originally built by Camelot Homes, the house had a timeless appeal, but the homeowners saw the potential for more—a modern twist that would breathe new life into the home while maintaining its enduring charm.
The homeowners approached Camelot Homes with a request to remodel the untouched original 1970s property, but at the time, custom renovations weren’t something the company had ever ventured into. That’s when Cammie Beckert, daughter of Camelot’s co-owners, saw an opportunity. She had a vision and decided to take on the challenge, setting the stage for something entirely new.
The homeowners envisioned a seamless blend of contemporary design with the traditional elements that made the home unique. Our challenge was clear: reimagine every aspect of the house, from structure to style, while preserving its original character.
Our team took on the challenge with enthusiasm and attention to detail. The remodel began with a comprehensive reconfiguration of the home’s layout. We opened up walls to create a more expansive, airy feel, eliminated sunken rooms to improve flow, and completely redesigned the master suite. One of the key transformations was the removal of the old sunken tub, which made way for a sleek, modern bathroom design.
The exterior also received a dramatic facelift. We revamped the front elevation, giving the home a fresh, updated curb appeal, and restored the overgrown landscaping to complement the property’s natural beauty.
The transformation speaks for itself. Below, you can see how the home looked before the renovation, with its original 1970s features and overgrown landscape. In contrast, the “after” photos showcase the stunning results of our meticulous work. From the refreshed exterior to the fully modernized interior, every detail was thoughtfully considered and expertly executed. Although we transformed every inch of the house (we took it down to the studs!), here we’re highlighting two standout areas: the exterior and the heart of the home—the kitchen and great room.
While this project gave the homeowners a beautiful, updated space for their family, it also marked a pivotal moment for us. The success of this remodel inspired the creation of Cameron Custom, the custom division of Camelot Homes. Today, we are proud to specialize in high-end renovations and bespoke luxury builds in Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona, helping homeowners bring their dream properties to life.
This home, now a perfect blend of timeless appeal and contemporary elegance, is more than just a remodel—it’s the foundation upon which Cameron Custom was built.
